I know that good food is expensive and it is partially for a good cause, but it is quite costly for local people to attend. Perhaps this type of event could be made more affordable by doing a lunch or breakfast of local food at a lower cost so that people in the area, many of whom are seniors or not on big salaries might be interested to come. Or cooking classes showcasing low cost meals made from local or easily home grown produce.
