The Taste of Local Watermelon Radishes

Sometimes what is old becomes new again. Right now, heritage veggies are a big hit.

The Watermelon Radish is one of those. The outside of the watermelon radish is fairly boring looking. But slicing into it gives you that "WOW" with its wild fushia interior. Then there is that slightly sweet, tangy taste that is milder than the usual radish.

The Watermelon radish is a heirloom variety of the Daikon Radish family, and is also related to the turnip and horseradish. They pair well with apples, cheese, bacon and feta. They can be eaten raw in a salad, braised or roasted.
Once you try them I am sure you will be hooked!

Have a Great Week.
